Steve 'Smut' Smith (also known as the Meister)
Debut 2001 Appearances: 101 Player No: 065
Right hand bat, Wicketkeeper

Joined the Club in 2001 and has only missed a handful of games since. A talented wicket keeper he has kept in all but one of his 80 matches played to date. In 2004 he became the Club's leading keeper with a total of 58 dismissals. A highly liked individual who is very popular with team mates. He can often be seen turning up for home games on his pushbike with his kit over his shoulder. Always one for a quick put down and stands no nonsense especially from bowlers who drift too much down the legside and one to be feared if he is handing out the end of match awards - nobody is safe! Can bat anywhere in the order and also has the nickname 'spanker' for his ability to punish the bad ball with a healthy slap! Provides great support to the slower bowlers when standing up and has a fine collection of stumping dismissal to his name. The Club's Vice Captain for the 2005 season, as well as being the Club Secretary. Supporter of Chelsea FC.
