Simon 'Backdoor' Pipe (also known as Casper)
Debut: 1998 Appearances: 141 Player No: 039
Right hand bat, Right arm fast medium bowler

Made his debut for the club in 1998 having impressed during winter nets. He came with a reputation as a batsman but has developed into a talented all rounder. Although he claims season after season to be a better batsman than bowler - and vice versa when he bowls better than he bats. Has a multitude of nicknames including Unigate for developing the 'milk delivery' fielding stop. Picked up the new nickname of 'backdoor' in 2004 after having been dismissed time and again - bowled behind his legs. Also known as Casper for his ghostly white legs. In 2003 he broke the club record when he took 53 wickets in the season and he became the first player to have scored 2000 runs and taken 200 wickets during the 2004 season. He is still searching for his first century for the Club, having been twice dismissed for 95. Always one to watch in the fashion stakes, not to follow, but to laugh at! Supports Chelsea FC
